The Process Behind Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy isn’t an in-depth surgery with scalpels, gauze, and long recovery periods. The treatment is delivered by way of a no-fuss injection that targets prominent veins. This injection will shut down the varicose or spider vein, letting the body absorb it naturally. You won’t need any anesthesia, and the treatment is short. It only takes about 15 to 30 minutes in total!

You’re in good hands with the practiced and experienced Dream Spa Medical staff. They’ll make the sclerotherapy injection, and after around half an hour, you’ll be free to go. This procedure doesn’t necessitate any recovery periods, and after the procedure, your problematic veins should begin to shrink.
The sclerotherapy treatment wouldn’t be effective without the “Sclerosing Agent” solution. This solution is what triggers varicose and spider veins to shut down. The most effective way to get rid of damaged veins is by tricking the body to do it for us. First, we use the Sclerosing Agent to collapse the veins. Once the vein has collapsed, the body will absorb it, redirecting blood flow to healthy veins.
There are! If you’re looking to reduce the cramping, swelling, and burning that often come with large blood vessels, then sclerotherapy could be a viable option. Sclerotherapy works fast, completely erasing overly prominent blood vessels in just 2 to 4 weeks following the procedure. Everyone’s body is different, so you may need 1 or 2 additional treatments to see full skin clarity.
Varicose veins and spider veins are both caused by malfunctions in the blood flow process. Unlike varicose veins, though, spider veins stem from smaller blood vessels. Veins are designed to carry blood in a specific direction to the heart. But on some occasions, venous valves break down, and blood flow can be interrupted. When this happens, blood stays stagnant. This results in spider veins’ trademark swollen, discolored appearance. There’s no solution, save for destroying the vein altogether.
Hormonal changes and sun damage can also contribute to the formation of spider veins.
Varicose veins may show up in different places, like your ankles, calves, or thighs. You can identify a varicose if it’s discolored and protruding. You can also identify a varicose vein if you notice any discomfort stemming from the vein. However, it’s important that you don’t self-diagnose. If you think you have a varicose vein, you should consult a doctor for advice.

- Please allow a minimum of 2 weeks’ time in between any vaccinations and your treatment.

- Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
- Please avoid the use of sunless tanner for at least 10 days prior to your treatment.
- Please ensure that you fully exfoliate any remnants of sunless tan product off your skin prior to your appointment.
- It is best if you arrive to your appointment free of makeup, perfume, lotion, or deodorant in the treatment area.
- Please do not shave or use depilatories on your legs the day of the procedure.
- Shower and thoroughly wash your legs prior to the procedure.
- We suggest that you wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment. You may opt to bring a pair of shorts with you to change into for the treatment, as your legs will be fully exposed during the procedure.

- The treated area may feel uncomfortable and slightly warm immediately after treatment. You can expect the treated area to develop bruising and/or mild to moderate swelling over the next few days following the procedure.
- The treated area may be painful, and you may experience muscle cramping in your legs for up to 5 days post-procedure. We suggest taking Tylenol for discomfort.
- We strongly encourage you to avoid direct sun exposure to the treated area or the use of tanning beds for at least 2 weeks following this procedure.
